People's Tribune: "Fostering a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation"

指出“我国是统一的多民族国家，中华民族多元一体是我国的一个显著特征”，强调“我们的民族理论和政策是好的、管用的”，宣示“全面建设社会主义现代化国家，一个民族都不能少”，要求“铸牢中华民族共同体意识，促进各民族交往交流交融”……近日在新疆考察时，习近平总书记从战略高度、全局视野对做好新疆工作、民族工作作出一系列重要指示，为把祖国的新疆建设得越来越美好定向引航，为不断巩固各民族大团结凝心聚力。

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, recently inspected the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwestern China. He noted that our country is a unified multiethnic country, with the Chinese people of all ethnic groups united in diversity being a salient feature. He stressed that our ethnic theories and policies are sound and effective. Having pointed out that no ethnic group should be left behind in the building of a modern socialist country in all respects, Xi called for efforts to develop a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation and encourage more exchanges and interactions among different ethnic groups... Xi gave important instructions on improving the work related to Xinjiang and other ethnic groups from a strategic and overall perspective, so as to set the direction for the development of Xinjiang and make concerted efforts to build China, a country with ethnic unity, more united.

民族团结是我国各族人民的生命线，中华民族共同体意识是民族团结之本。一部中国史，就是一部各民族交融汇聚成多元一体中华民族的历史，就是各民族共同缔造、发展、巩固统一的伟大祖国的历史。辽阔的疆域由各民族共同开拓，悠久的历史由各民族共同书写，灿烂的文化由各民族共同创造，伟大的精神由各民族共同培育。进入中国特色社会主义新时代，各民族在社会生活中紧密联系的广度和深度前所未有，中华民族共同体意识也比以往任何时候都更加强烈。

Ethnic unity is the lifeline for people of all ethnic groups in China and the fundamental task of ethnic unity is to foster a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation. Chinese history reflects our journey and history of how interwoven ethnic groups developed harmonious relationships between 56 diverse and how people of all ethnic groups jointly contributed to the development of the motherland. People of all ethnic groups had worked together to develop its vast territories, jointly written the splendid history, created the brilliance of civilization and cultivate great spirits. In the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the close connection between all ethnic groups' livelihood expands and extends unprecedentedly, and the sense of community for the Chinese nation is stronger than ever.

我国是统一的多民族国家，民族工作关乎大局。党坚定不移走中国特色解决民族问题的正确道路，坚持把铸牢中华民族共同体意识作为党的民族工作主线，促进各民族共同团结奋斗、共同繁荣发展。党创造性地把马克思主义民族理论同中国民族问题具体实际相结合，确立了以民族平等、民族团结、民族区域自治、各民族共同繁荣发展为主要内容的民族理论和民族政策，各民族在社会主义制度下实现了真正意义上的平等团结进步。正如习近平总书记深刻指出的：“坚持中国特色社会主义道路，是新形势下做好民族工作必须牢牢把握的正确政治方向。”坚持走中国特色解决民族问题的正确道路，不断丰富和发展新时代党的民族理论，全面贯彻落实党的民族政策，才能更好维护民族团结、社会稳定、国家统一。

China is a unified multiethnic country, so ethnic affairs are related to the overall development. We should unswervingly take the correct and Chinese way to address ethnic issues, focus on forging a strong sense of community among the Chinese people and with the same goal in mind. Creatively adapting Marxist ethnic theory to China's specific realities, we have formulated ethnic theories and policies characterized by ethnic equality and unity, regional ethnic autonomy, and shared development and prosperity, so that all ethnic groups have enjoyed equality, unity and progress in real sense under the socialist system. As General Secretary Xi Jinping has rightly stated, under new conditions to do a better job on ethnic affairs, we must firmly maintain the right political direction, which is to stay on the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Only by staying committed to the correct and Chinese way to address ethnic issues, continuing to enrich and develop the Party's ethnic theories for the new era, and faithfully implementing the ethnic and religious policies of the CPC, can we better uphold national and ethnic unity and social stability.

铸牢中华民族共同体意识是维护各民族根本利益的必然要求。必须紧紧抓住铸牢中华民族共同体意识这条主线，深化民族团结进步教育，引导各族群众牢固树立休戚与共、荣辱与共、生死与共、命运与共的共同体理念，逐步实现在空间、文化、经济、社会、心理等方面的全方位嵌入，不断巩固中华民族共同体思想基础，促进各民族在中华民族大家庭中像石榴籽一样紧紧抱在一起。文化认同是最深层次的认同。端正历史文化认知，树立正确的国家观、历史观、民族观、文化观、宗教观，增进对伟大祖国、中华民族、中华文化、中国共产党、中国特色社会主义的认同，铸牢中国心、中华魂，才能构筑中华民族共有精神家园。共同建设伟大祖国，共同创造美好生活，实现好、维护好、发展好各民族根本利益，一定能让中华民族共同体牢不可破。

Forging a strong sense of community among the Chinese people is an essential requirement for serving the fundamental interests of the whole nation. We must focus on that and develop the education work of building public awareness of ethnic unity and progress to guide all people that humanity is a community with a shared future where all people rise and fall together through triumphs and setbacks, thick and thin. We must promote integration among people from all ethnic groups in all areas such as culture, economy, society and psychology so that the sense of community will be stronger and they will be closely united like the seeds of a pomegranate that stick together. Cultural identity is of utmost importance. It is important to have a correct understanding of our history and culture, and to educate and guide people of all ethnic groups to establish a correct view of the country, history, ethnicity, culture and religion, and enhance their identification with the motherland, the Chinese nation, the Chinese culture, the CPC and socialism with Chinese characteristics. And we should strengthen the national psyche of the Chinese nation so the sense of belonging to the Chinese nation can be established. Building a great motherland together, jointly creating a better life, and upholding the fundamental interests of all ethnic groups will forge an unbreakable community for the Chinese nation.

在党的坚强领导下，多元一体的中华民族大家庭，同心同德、同心同向的全国各族人民，正在书写同心共筑中国梦的崭新篇章。我们坚信：“各民族大团结的中国一定是无往而不胜的，一定是有着光明未来的，我们的第二个百年奋斗目标必然会胜利实现，中华民族伟大复兴必然会到来。”

Under the strong CPC leadership, the diverse Chinese nation, with all ethnic groups striving with one heart, are writing a new chapter of jointly fulfilling the Chinese Dream. We are convinced that China, a country with ethnic unity, is invincible and will have a bright future, and our Second Centenary Goal is bound to be achieved and so is the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
