Beijing, 7 June (Reporter Wang Hao) The Ministry of Water Resources has made every effort to promote the construction progress of rural water supply projects and effectively improve the level of rural water supply security. By the end of May, 6,474 rural water supply projects had been started and 2,419 completed, which improved the water supply security level of 9.32 million rural people.
In April, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Finance and the National Rural Revitalization Bureau jointly issued a document to support poverty-stricken areas to use the central financial linkage to promote rural revitalization subsidies, and to supplement the necessary shortage of rural water supply infrastructure. The Ministry of Water Resources encouraged all localities to use local government special bonds to promote the construction of large-scale water supply projects in rural areas, and signed cooperation agreements with the National Development Bank and the Agricultural Development Bank to clarify the preferential credit policies and support the construction of rural water supply projects in all localities. By the end of May, 51.6 billion yuan had been invested in rural water supply projects, including 21.4 billion yuan of local government special bonds and 9.4 billion yuan of bank loans.
Yunnan Province has launched a three-year special action to ensure rural water supply. By the end of May, 1100 projects have been started in 115 counties (cities and districts) of the province, with a total investment of 4.786 billion yuan and a beneficiary population of 1.16 million. Jiangxi Province has carried out the construction of the leading county of urban-rural water supply integration since 2022. By the end of May, the province has implemented 3.94 billion yuan of construction funds for urban-rural water supply integration. Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has actively explored the large-scale development of rural water supply. At present, the total investment in the construction of key water source projects in the region has reached 6.21 billion yuan, with the investment completion rate of 74.7%. Fujian Province has actively promoted the construction of large-scale water supply projects in rural areas. By the end of May, 3.58 billion yuan has been invested in Anhui Province to implement the "Water Diversion Project for Drinking Water for the People in Northern Anhui Province", and 35 new projects are planned to be built in 25 counties (districts) of 6 cities in northern Anhui this year.
