记者4日从中国铁路广州局集团有限公司了解到，白云站是中国铁路规划中的重要项目，也是广州铁路枢纽规划“五主四辅”客站中的主要客站之一。站场规模达11台24线，以普铁为主、高铁及城际为辅，配套有游客中心、长途客运中心、旅游大巴站场和城市公交站场。白云站将成为站城融合、交通综合、功能复合、生态结合、智能统合，具有岭南特色的全新TOD(即以公共交通为导向的开发模式)大型综合交通枢纽。

There are 11 stations with 24 lines, mainly general railway, supplemented by high-speed rail and intercity, with tourist center, long-distance passenger transport center, tourist bus station and city bus station. Baiyun Station will become a brand-new TOD (i.e., public transportation oriented development mode) large-scale comprehensive transportation hub with Lingnan characteristics.
“车站主站房建筑采用独具岭南特色的‘云山珠水、木棉花开’外观造型，运用了大量先进设计理念和建筑科技，站房每一片往外延伸的木棉花瓣与广州市的市花相呼应，展现了广州城市名片与绿色生态。”中铁第四勘察设计院白云站项目设计总负责人黄波表示，新建的广州白云站将成为广州一座新型城市地标。

广州白云站也是中国首批试用智能化建造机器人的铁路站房建设项目。目前，已使用土建专业的“混凝土智能随动布料机”“地面整平机器人”“地面抹平机器人”“地库抹光机器人”等6种智能机器人。中铁建工集团白云站项目负责人表示，未来随着工程进展和施工需求，将陆续投入使用机电、装饰装修等各专业领域的其他14种智能建造机器人，将极大地推动建筑工人从体力型向技术型转变。

据悉，建成后的白云站将承接广州站和广州东站的全部普速客车，是广州站和广州东站未来更新改造的前置条件。随着后期广州站、广州东站改造完成，广州铁路枢纽运能瓶颈将进一步缓解。
