Kailu County, Inner Mongolia: Characteristic Planting Rich Farmhouses

春耕春种时节，内蒙古自治区通辽市开鲁县保安农场白音花分场职工穆国权正和二十多名雇工在田间忙着栽植圆葱，他们或蹲或坐，分发的、栽植的、培土的，现场十分热闹。

During the spring ploughing and planting season, Mu Guoquan, an employee of Baiyinhua Branch of Baoan Farm in Kailu County, Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is busy planting onions in the field with more than 20 employees. They squat or sit, distribute, plant and cultivate soil, and the scene is very lively.

“我今年已经是第七年栽圆葱了，圆葱这几年价格挺稳定，一亩地能收入3000元左右，下茬复种葵花还能有1000多块钱收入，两茬加起来，一亩地一年能收入四五千块钱。”穆国权给记者算起了经济账。因为收益喜人，今年穆国权又栽了35亩地圆葱。

"I have planted onions for the seventh year this year. The price of onions has been quite stable in recent years. An acre of land can earn about 3,000 yuan, and the next multiple cropping sunflower can earn more than 1,000 yuan. Together, an acre of land can earn four or five thousand yuan a year." Mu Guoquan calculated the economic account for the reporter. Because of the gratifying income, Mu Guoquan has planted another 35 acres of onions this year.

乡村振兴要靠产业、产业发展要有特色。开鲁县立足资源优势，瞄准市场需求，按照“一村一品”发展思路调整农业产业结构，引导群众因地制宜发展特色种植，提高经济效益，促进农民增收致富。

Rural revitalization depends on industry, and industrial development should have its own characteristics. Based on resource advantages and aiming at market demand, Kailu County adjusts the agricultural industrial structure according to the development idea of "one village, one product", guides the masses to develop characteristic planting according to local conditions, improves economic benefits, and promotes farmers to increase their income and become rich.

发展圆葱特色种植不仅让种植户的钱袋子鼓了起来，也为当地群众就近务工增加收入提供了机会。在穆国权家“打工”的王淑荣告诉记者，每年她都利用农闲时间做“农事钟点工”，赚点零花钱。“春天的时候栽圆葱，一天140块钱，是固定工资。等秋天起圆葱时就挣计件工资了，一年在家门口打工至少能挣个万把块钱，还能照顾家庭，也不耽误自己家地里的农活”王淑荣笑呵呵地说。

Developing the characteristic planting of onion not only swells the money bags of growers, but also provides opportunities for local people to work nearby to increase their income. Wang Shurong, who works in Mu Guoquan's home, told reporters that every year she uses her slack time to work as an "hourly farm worker" and earn some pocket money. "Planting onions in spring costs 140 yuan a day, which is a fixed salary. When the onions start in autumn, you will earn piece-rate wages. Working at home a year can earn at least 10,000 yuan, and you can also take care of your family without delaying the farm work in your own land," Wang Shurong said with a smile.

与穆国权发展圆葱复种的方式不同，大榆树镇联丰村村民以“合作社+”的方式抱团发展钢葱特色种植。

Different from Mu Guoquan's way of developing multiple cropping of onion, the villagers in Lianfeng Village of Dayushu Town hold a group to develop the characteristic planting of steel onion in the way of "cooperative +".

孙立伟是大榆树镇联丰村第一个种植钢葱的人，在尝到钢葱种植甜头后，2019年他注册成立专业合作社，为合作社社员和种植户提供育苗、栽植、田间管理、收售等种、产、销系列服务，实现了“小农户”与“大市场”的有效对接，拓宽群众增收致富渠道。

Sun Liwei was the first person to plant steel onions in Lianfeng Village, Dayushu Town. After gaining the benefits of planting steel onions, he registered and established a professional cooperative in 2019 to provide cooperative members and growers with a series of services such as seedling raising, planting, field management, and sales, thus realizing the effective connection between "small farmers" and "big markets" and broadening the channels for people to increase their income and become rich.

“合作社刚成立时只有3户社员、180亩地，现在社员已经发展到50户、面积也扩大到了近2000亩，村民跟着合作社种钢葱赚到了钱，家家户户的日子过得都很红火。”孙立伟喜滋滋地说。

"When the cooperative was first established, there were only 3 members and 180 acres of land. Now the number of members has grown to 50, and the area has expanded to nearly 2,000 acres. The villagers have made money with the cooperative to grow steel onions, and every household leads a prosperous life." Sun Liwei said with joy.

在孙立伟的示范带动下，联丰村越来越多的农户加入钢葱种植队伍中来，李建桥就是其中一位，去年他家种植70亩地钢葱纯收入50余万元，今年他毫不犹豫地将种植面积扩大到了100亩。

Driven by Sun Liwei's demonstration, more and more farmers in Lianfeng Village had joined the steel onion planting team, and Li Jianqiao was one of them. Last year, his family planted 70 acres of steel onion with a net income of more than 500,000 yuan. This year, he did not hesitate to expand the planting area to 100 acres.

李建桥说：“葱籽下到大棚里是60天，然后移栽到大田里生长150天，赶到9月中旬就能上市。去年每亩地卖到12000元～13000元，收入还是很不错的。”李建桥说，这还不算二茬复种蔬菜的收入。

Li Jianqiao said: "It takes 60 days for onion seeds to go down to the greenhouse, then transplant to the field to grow for 150 days, and they will be available in mid-September. Last year, every acre of land sold for 12,000 yuan to 13,000 yuan, and the income was still very good." Li Jianqiao said that this is not the income from the second crop of vegetables.

今年，开鲁县把产业振兴作为推动乡村全面振兴的重要基础，在稳定粮食种植面积的同时，全面优化产业结构、丰富产业内容，进一步推进“特色农业”提质增效，计划发展蔬菜、香瓜、葡萄等特色农作物10万亩，促进农民增收致富。

This year, Kailu County regards industrial revitalization as an important foundation for promoting rural comprehensive revitalization. While stabilizing the grain planting area, it comprehensively optimizes the industrial structure, enriches the industrial content, further promotes the "characteristic agriculture" to improve quality and efficiency, and plans to develop 100,000 acres of characteristic crops such as vegetables, cantaloupes and grapes to increase farmers' income and become rich.
