On July 27th, The Beijing Commissioner's Office of the National Forestry and Grassland Adminstration (Beijing Office of the Endangered Species Office) and Tianjin Xingang Customs signed measures for supervision and cooperation of import and export of the wildlife, and held the first joint meeting. The meeting made it clear that the two sides will jointly carry out party organization co-construction activities, strengthen business exchanges and cooperation, promote the normalization and long-term effectiveness of doing practical things for the masses, create a good environment for enterprise to export to China, and jointly guard the national defense line of wildlife protection.
Wildlife protection is related to national ecological security, rare species resources security and national biosafety. The import and export management of wild animals and plants and their products is an important duty of the Endangered Species Office and Customs. The establishment of contact and cooperation mechanism between Beijing Office of the Endangered Species Office and Tianjin Xingang Customs is not only an effective exploration of innovating wildlife supervision at ports, but also an important measure to help import and export enterprises solve problems. The two sides will give full play to their respective expertise and advantages, carry out in-depth joint research and business training, strengthen cooperation of inspection and identification information and rapid customs clearance supervision, and enhance the publicity of wildlife protection at ports.

In recent years, Tianjin Xingang Customs has continuously explored and optimized efficient methods and effective mechanisms for inspection and quarantine of endangered species and animals and plants for entry or exit, and combating smuggling. Since 2020, Tianjin Xingang Customs has investigated and dealt with 47 cases involving endangered species, mainly involving endangered timber, endangered wild animals, ivory and its products, cosmetics containing endangered materials, Chinese herbal medicines and endangered plant products, etc. (Wu Zhaozhao Xu Qingyuan)
