As the first fully funded 350 km/h high-speed rail project in Guangdong Province, Meilong High-speed Rail is a major project to promote the close connection between Meizhou and Heyuan and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The project starts from Meizhou West Station of Meizhou High-speed Railway, passes through Meixian District of Meizhou City, Xingning City, Wuhua County and Longchuan County of Heyuan City, and ends at Longchuan West Station of Ganshen High-speed Railway. The new main line, with a total length of 93.986 km, connects Meizhou City and Longchuan City of Guangdong Province, connects Ganshen high-speed Railway and Guanghe high-speed Railway in the west, connects Fujian section of Longlong high-speed Railway and Nanlong Railway in the east. It connects the Greater Bay Area with the northern part of Fujian and the Yangtze River Delta, which is of great significance for further improving the high-speed railway network in South China.
Meilong high-speed Railway has four stations, two existing stations are Meizhou West Station and Longchuan West Station, and the new Xingning South Station and Wuhua Station are built by China Railway Fourth Bureau. Among them, Wuhua Station has two 5-line train yards and station buildings with a construction area of 9998.78 square meters. The roof adopts a large-arc four-slope arc grid roof. The maximum span of the grid support is 46.6 meters, the grid covers an area of 7662 square meters, about 370 tons, and is currently undergoing internal decoration construction stage.
Meizhou is located in the northeast of Guangdong Province, at the junction of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces. It has been the main departure point for Hakka people to spread abroad since Ming and Qing Dynasties, and is known as the "world tourist capital". It used to take six hours for ordinary trains to travel from Meizhou to Guangzhou and Shenzhen, but after the Meilong Railway is completed and opened to traffic, Meizhou will be connected to Guangzhou and Shenzhen in two hours.
