To thoroughly implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on work safety and the decisions and arrangements of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, in accordance with the requirements of "unified deployment, unified standards, unified steps and unified actions" and the work arrangement of "four inspections and one guidance", the Ministry of Transport has focused on 7 categories and 31 items of risk and hazard hidden dangers as well as 14 key tasks of special governance actions during the flood and summer seasons. With prominence given to key areas, key regions and key parts, it has carried out investigations and rectifications of major risk and hazard hidden dangers in the flood and summer seasons from south to north in three regions, namely southern, central and northern regions, from March 21 to June 30. As of now, the southern region has basically completed the key tasks of the investigation and rectification campaign, with approximately 251,000 potential problems and hazards identified, including 1,753 major hazards (1,350 of which have been rectified), and 1,595 outstanding issues (1,246 of which have been rectified).
The inspection and guidance team of the Ministry of Transport urges industry authorities and relevant enterprises across the country to strictly implement immediate and closed-loop rectification of problems and hazards. For those that are difficult to complete rectification in the short term, strict safety control measures should be implemented to fully ensure the stable safety production situation in the industry during the "May Day" holiday, flood season and summer vacation.
Since May, this newspaper will launch a special column to expose typical problems and hazards found, urge and warn the industry to strengthen lessons learned and draw inferences from one case, advance the in-depth and solid investigation and rectification of major risks and hazards, and resolutely safeguard the lives and property of the people.
