BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) --The inaugural meeting of the China Council of the Sustainable Markets Initiative was held in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province on the 22nd. Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua and the heir to the British throne, Prince Charles, delivered video speeches respectively.

胡春华表示，中国政府高度重视生态文明建设和可持续发展，习近平主席提出全球发展倡议，呼吁国际社会加快落实联合国2030年可持续发展议程，推动实现更加强劲、绿色、健康的全球发展。在习近平主席的关心和支持下，“可持续市场倡议”中国理事会正式成立，必将成为工商界参与全球可持续发展事业的重要合作平台。

Hu Chunhua said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to ecological conservation and sustainable development. President Xi Jinping put forward a Global Development Initiative and draw the international community's attention to speed up the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and promote stronger, green, and healthy global development. With the care and support of President Xi Jinping, the China Council of the Sustainable Market Initiative was officially established, which will surely emerge as an important cooperation platform for the business community to participate in the global sustainable development.

胡春华强调，近年来，中国坚定不移走生态优先、绿色低碳发展道路，积极参与和引领全球气候治理，展现了负责任大国的担当。面对气候变化、环境污染等全球性挑战，国际社会应当秉持人类命运共同体理念，加强团结合作，加快绿色转型，构建经济与环境协同共进的地球家园。希望参会的各国政商界代表深入沟通交流，加强绿色发展合作，为全球可持续发展贡献智慧和力量。

Hu Chunhua emphasized that in recent years, China has unswervingly followed a path of prioritizing ecological conservation and pursuing green development, actively joined in and led global climate governance, and lived up to its responsibility as a major country. In the face of global challenges such as climate change and environmental pollution, the international community should adhere to the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, and accelerate the green transition, thus building a common homeland of coordinated advancement of economy and the environment. It is hoped that the political and business representatives from all over the world will have in-depth communication and exchanges, step up green international cooperation, and contribute wisdom and strength to global sustainable development.
