On August 28, 2026, President Xi Jinping sent a condolence message to Nepalese President Bodar over the mudslide disaster in Nepal.

习近平指出，日前中国和尼泊尔边境吉隆－热索瓦口岸发生严重泥石流灾害，造成重大人员伤亡、失联和财产损失。我谨代表中国政府和中国人民，对遇难者表示深切哀悼，向遇难者家属、受伤人员和灾区民众致以诚挚慰问。

Xi Jinping pointed out that a severe mudslide recently occurred at the Gyirong-Razuwa Port crossing on the China-Nepal border, causing significant casualties and missing persons as well as property damage. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the victims and extend my sincere sympathies to their families, the injured, and the people in the disaster area.

习近平强调，中方正全力以赴搜救失联人员，转移安置相关群众，抓紧救治伤员，最大限度减少人员伤亡，并防止发生次生灾害。中国和尼泊尔山水相连、命运与共，中方愿积极协助尼方开展救援，提供力所能及的支持和帮助。相信两国人民一定能携手早日战胜灾害，重建家园。

Xi Jinping emphasized that China is making every effort to search for and rescue missing persons, relocate and resettle relevant residents, promptly treat the injured, minimize casualties, and prevent secondary disasters. China and Nepal are connected by mountains and rivers and share a common destiny. China is willing to actively assist Nepal in carrying out rescue operations and provide support and assistance within its capabilities. I believe that the people of both countries will join hands to overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes as soon as possible.
