Zhu Dong, the former chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, has been removed from the Communist Party and dismissed from his public position.
Xinhua News Agency, Nanning, September 24 (Xinhua) - The Discipline Inspection and Supervision Commission of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region announced on September 24 that, a few days ago, with the approval of the Autonomous Region's Party Committee, they initiated a case review and investigation into Zhu Dong, the former secretary of the party group and chairman of the Guangxi Federation of Social Sciences, and placed him under detention.
Following an investigation, it was found that Zhu Dong's ideological and belief system had eroded. He deviated from his original mission and engaged in unauthorized activities, including forming factions and cliques within the party, colluding with others, resisting organizational oversight, expressing disbelief in Marxism-Leninism, and adhering to superstitions. Furthermore, he disregarded the principles of the Eight-point Regulation, accepting gifts and favors that could compromise the impartial execution of his official duties, as well as participating in banquets and trips that could influence his impartial performance. Additionally, he exploited his authority to secure advantages for specific affiliated parties in business contracts. He failed to carry out his duties correctly, violating work ethics and discipline. Furthermore, he misused public authority for personal gain, leveraging his position to generate profits for others in project contracts and other areas, and illicitly accepting substantial amounts of property.
Zhu Dong gravely violated the Party's political, ethical, work, and lifestyle disciplines, committing a severe breach of duty and being suspected of accepting bribes. Moreover, he persisted in these violations even after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. His actions were of a grave nature and had a detrimental impact. Consequently, he is to be dealt with severely. In accordance with the "Regulations on Disciplinary Measures of the Communist Party of China," the "Supervision Law of the People's Republic of China," the "Administrative Punishment Law of Public Officials of the People's Republic of China," and other relevant regulations, Zhu Dong has been expelled from the Party following deliberation by the Standing Committee of the Commission for Discipline Inspection of the autonomous region and approval by the Party Committee of the autonomous region.
