On August 24, 2026, Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, met in Beijing with US representatives attending the third China‑U.S. 1.5‑Track Dialogue.
Wang Huning stated that in May this year, President Xi Jinping held in‑depth discussions with President Trump, who was on a visit to China, on major issues concerning China‑U.S. relations and the peaceful development of the world. China stands ready to work with the United States to fully and accurately implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, enhance mutual understanding, respect each other's core interests, strengthen practical cooperation across all fields, properly manage differences, and actively foster a constructive, stable China‑U.S. strategic relationship.
The US stated that U.S.-China relations currently stand at a pivotal juncture. The cordial relationship between the two heads of state is the most valuable and most important component of bilateral ties. It expressed its support for the two sides’ joint efforts to implement the consensus reached by the two leaders on building a constructive and stable strategic relationship, promote business cooperation, enhance people‑to‑people and cultural exchanges, and guard against risks including those stemming from artificial intelligence, thereby benefiting both countries and the world.
