I spent a full year in Taiwan, from February 2014 to January 2015. I traveled and shot photos across countless spots, storing countless precious memories.
合欢山是最让我不能忘怀的一个地方。一切的拍摄都是为了等待一束光线的降临。
Hehuanshan Mountain left an indelible impression on me. All my shooting sessions were dedicated to waiting for the perfect ray of light to sweep over the peaks.
The winding mountain loop road bans large coaches from ascending the peaks, keeping Hehuanshan out of reach for most tourists. Even so, it boasts some of Taiwan’s most breathtaking vistas. The range features imposing, rugged ridges paired with graceful, varied slopes, earning it the moniker “Model Mountain Range”.
I’ve hiked up Hehuanshan Mountain on three separate occasions. Private light vehicles can travel straight from the mountain foothills to the summit, a journey of roughly three hours. The route teems with heavy motorcycle riders and road cyclists, yet I have never spotted a single hiker trekking all the way to the top — a trait that sets this range apart from all other mountains in Taiwan.
