Recently, Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation (PVN) announced that its subsidiary Vietnam Gas Company is advancing a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal expansion plan, which will be located in Thi in the Cai Mai Industrial Park in the southeastern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
The annual receiving capacity of the Vai LNG terminal has been upgraded from 1 million tons to 3 million tons. The total investment of the project will reach 8.867 trillion VND. According to the plan, the preliminary engineering design, budget preparation and review business of the project will be tendered before the end of September this year.
Construction of the Vai LNG terminal started in October 2019, with the first phase completed in October 2023. The terminal has a storage facility capacity of 180,000 cubic meters and an annual receiving capacity of 1 million tons. In addition to storage facilities, the receiving terminal is also equipped with an entry port for LNG ships with a maximum capacity of 100,000 dwt.
