Chinese FM issues safety notice urging Chinese nationals in eastern DR Congo to evacuate immediately

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official WeChat platform on Sunday released a safety notice advising Chinese nationals in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to evacuate immediately, citing the highly complex and severe security situation in the region.

中国外交部官方微信平台周日发布安全通知，建议在刚果民主共和国东部的中国公民立即撤离，理由是该地区安全形势高度复杂严峻。

The DRC's North Kivu, South Kivu, Ituri, and Haut-Uélé provinces, along with the surrounding areas, face extremely high security risks, with parts of the region in active conflict. Violent incidents targeting Chinese nationals and enterprises, including armed attacks, clashes and kidnappings, have occurred frequently, read the notice.

刚果民主共和国的北基伍省、南基伍省、伊图里和上韦莱省以及周边地区面临着极高的安全风险，该地区的部分地区冲突活跃。通知称，针对中国公民和企业的暴力事件频繁发生，包括武装袭击、冲突和绑架。

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy in the DRC solemnly remind all Chinese nationals and companies in eastern DRC, particularly those in South Kivu, to promptly register their information with the Embassy and evacuate the area without delay.

外交部和中国驻刚果（金）使馆郑重提醒所有在刚果（金）东部地区特别是在南基伍省的中国公民和企业，及时向使馆登记信息，立即撤离当地。

The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) on Friday condemned a series of deadly attacks by Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels in eastern DRC that left at least 89 civilians dead, Xinhua News Agency reported.

According to Xinhua, the ADF, an Islamic State-linked armed group of Ugandan origin, has intensified assaults on villages in North Kivu and Ituri in recent months, primarily targeting civilians.
