前8个月我国进口原油3.21亿吨,同比减少14.6%
In the first eight months, China imported 0.321 billion tons of crude oil, down 14.6 percent from the same period last year.
According to the latest data recently released by the General Administration of Customs, China imported 321 million tonnes of crude oil in the first eight months of 2026, down 14.6% year on year. Of this total, crude oil imports in August stood at 37.928 million tonnes, rising month on month from 35.726 million tonnes in July. Over the same period, China’s total import and export value of goods trade reached 34.78 trillion yuan, up 17.6% year on year. Foreign trade maintained a strong growth momentum overall.
Crude oil imports into China have continued to decline since the start of this year. Data shows that imports stood at 38.417 million tonnes in April, down about 20% year on year. In May, imports were 33.081 million tonnes, a year-on-year drop of roughly 29%. June imports fell further to 29.27 million tonnes, slumping by 41.3% year on year to hit a 10-year monthly low. This trend stems from a combination of multiple factors.
The month-on-month rebound in crude oil imports in August indicates some improvement in the import situation. Analysts hold that with the gradual fall in international oil prices and the seasonal recovery of domestic demand, crude oil imports are expected to further stabilize in the period ahead. In the medium and long term, however, the continuous advancement of energy transition will keep exerting a structural substitution effect on crude oil imports.
