On the 7th day of the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the return passenger flow has increased significantly. Transportation departments have boosted transport capacity and optimized services to ensure passengers return smoothly.
Journalists learned from the Ministry of Transport that the expected volume of cross-regional personnel movement across the country today (October 7) will exceed 308 million person-times, a year-on-year increase of 18.3%. The return passenger flow has seen a notable growth: the national railway passenger delivery volume today is expected to be 2.66 million person-times higher than that of yesterday, with 1,880 additional trains scheduled to run. Overnight high-speed trains will be added on routes such as from Beijing and Taiyuan to Guangdong and Hong Kong, and from Shanghai to Sichuan and Guizhou. Some stations have launched a 24-hour operation mode and joined hands with local transportation departments to facilitate transfer for returning passengers.
The estimated volume of cross-regional personnel movement across the country during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday is about 2.36 billion person-times, with road transport accounting for over 80%. Today, roads are witnessing a peak in return traffic flow, and the traffic volume on the road network is mainly composed of medium and long-distance return vehicles. The concentrated travel time periods are 10:00 and 16:00. It is expected that short-distance return traffic will form a peak tomorrow, but the intensity will be lower than that on the first day of the holiday. Small passenger cars with seven seats or fewer can still enjoy free passage on national expressways before 24:00 tomorrow.
Today, the national waterway transport is expected to carry 1.15 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 21.8%. The national civil aviation sector is projected to transport 2.43 million passengers and ensure the operation of 19,281 flights.
