The facility is Canada's first biofuels plant to integrate CO2 liquefaction technology. The project is designed to treat about 200,000 tons of sorted organic waste at the source annually, and can produce 350,000 to 400,000 gigajoules of renewable natural gas every year after full production. In addition to renewable natural gas, the facility will also produce low-carbon liquid fertilizers and food-grade liquefied carbon dioxide, enabling the conversion of a single waste flow to multiple high-value low-carbon products.
The project is expected to start commissioning at the end of 2026 and officially commennce commercial operation in the early 2027. The facility will become the flagship project within Convertus's expanding portfolio of advanced organic waste infrastructure.
