Sinochem News – Recently, China National Chemical Engineering’s 13th Construction Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “13th Chemical Construction”) announced that it has successfully won the bid for the pile foundation works of the Phase II expansion project of the Dangote Refinery in Nigeria. This achievement marks another significant breakthrough for the company in the African market.
Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest single refinery, is located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos. It currently has a crude oil processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day (bpd). Upon completion of the Phase II expansion, the refinery’s total crude processing capacity will reach 1.4 million bpd. Once operational, the project will substantially enhance Nigeria’s domestic refining capacity, reduce the country’s dependence on imports of refined petroleum products, and ease fuel supply-demand tensions. It will also stimulate the development of related industries, create numerous local jobs, and provide strong support for energy supply stability and livelihood improvement in West Africa.
Pile foundation engineering is a critical foundational element ensuring the stability of the main structures. 13th Chemical Construction will leverage its geotechnical engineering expertise, deploy advanced equipment and a professional team, and ensure safe and efficient project execution. This contract award represents a key achievement in 13th Chemical Construction’s expansion strategy in the African market. The company will take this opportunity to further advance subsequent civil construction and installation works, establish a solid base for localized operations, and contribute to China-Nigeria friendly cooperation as well as local economic and social development.
