Virgin Australia announced it will resume flights to Port Vila, Vanuatu, and the Samoan capital of Apia in a few months. The Australian-based airline will serve the destinations from Brisbane and Sydney as it continues to rebuild its international network.

Service to Port Vila Bauerfield International Airport will originate from Brisbane International Airport beginning March 10th. Flights will be five days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Weekend flights will reportedly be paused from May through to late June. Virgin operated the same amount of flights to Port Vila before border restrictions were imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As much of the industry is finally recovering from the pandemic's negative impacts, Vanuatu needs more international airlines to fly into Port Vila as an additional option to bring more tourists into the country, according to the Vanuatu Daily Post.

The outbound flight will depart at 9:00 and land in the Polynesian island nation at 17:00. The return flight is a convenient daytime flight, according to the Executive Traveller, leaving Apia at 18:05 the same day to land in Sydney at 21:40.

The airline has noted that the service may increase to three times weekly, but a third flight has not yet been scheduled or confirmed. Two days later, on March 23rd, Virgin will begin service to Apia from Brisbane. Flights will occur on Thursdays and Sundays, leaving Brisbane at 21:25 and arriving the following day in Apia at 5:20.
